If you’re a mom, I’d bet your camera roll is full of everyone but you. You’re the one who remembers the first day of school outfit, the birthday candles, the assignment that needs to be turned in tomorrow. You’re behind the lens, or you’re the one saying “okay, everybody squeeze in!” and then stepping out of the frame.

I see you because I am you. And after years of photographing families across Centreville, Ashburn, Leesburg, Fairfax, Alexandria, and Arlington, I can tell you why this work is the best job I could ask for.

1. I get to photograph the in-between moments

The posed smile has its place, but the magic is in everything around it: a toddler’s sticky hand tucked into yours, the whispered joke that makes your oldest giggle, the way your littlest tilts her head just so. I love slowing down enough to catch the moments you’d never think to stage, and the ones you’ll want back most someday.

2. I get to put moms back in the pictures

This is my favorite part, honestly. So many moms tell me they have thousands of photos of their kids and barely any of themselves with them. Years from now, your children won’t be looking for a perfectly polished version of you. They’ll want proof that you were there, laughing, holding them close. Handing a mom a gallery where she’s finally in the frame never gets old.

3. i get to flex my creative muscles and work with both digital and film

Digital gives me crisp, beautiful detail and the freedom to capture every fleeting expression. Film brings a soft, timeless warmth that feels like a memory. Blending the two means your family gallery has depth and texture, and it’ll look as lovely in twenty years as it does today.

4. I get to celebrate with you, in the midst of chaos and unbridled joy

Nobody’s house is spotless. Someone always has a meltdown, a missing shoe, or hair that refuses to cooperate. That’s the good stuff. I love that every family has its own rhythm and chaos, and my job is to make you feel relaxed enough to just be yourselves. The best photos happen when you stop trying to be perfect.

5. I get to create heirlooms for the future

Childhood goes by in a blink. One day the kids who won’t stop climbing on you will be taller than you, and these photos will become treasures you reach for again and again. Knowing I’m helping families hold onto this season, the loud, messy, tender, fleeting season, is why I do what I do.
